Plywood, MDF as well as particleboards are all made from wood. In the case of plywood thin veneers of wood are glued together at a right angle. MDF, or medium-density fibreboard, on the other hand is made from wood or other fibrous plants like flax or rapeseed. Unlike plywood, MDF is produced by breaking down the material to the individual fibres.

Plywood and MDF in the furniture and construction industries

Plywood, MDF and also particleboards are used extensively in both the furniture and construction industries. Plywood is used for cupboards, tables and chairs and also as a support material for wooden floors. MDF is used for furniture as well but also as insulating wall panels. Both materials are used as concrete formwork in construction.
